1. Flyers
A flyer: it’s a designed and decorated document with text and images to announce something, such as an event, an exhibition, a celebration, a contest. It can have different sizes and formats, for instance, it can be a regular page folded in two or three parts. But the most important is the content of the flyer.
The presentation of a contest has to include necessarily the following elements:
Title of the contest in an attractive cover page, with an appealing name, some pictures, maybe a subtitle.
Who organises the contest, that helps to find out information about what they do.
Final date to present works, day and hour, as well as where to present them. This information has to appear after the topic, characteristics of works, categories or participants.
Jury, the people that are going to ensure that all the works accomplish the requirements and will also select the best ones, according to the bases.
Prizes, that can be monetary but also materials, an exhibition, the publishing of some writing, recording a video-clip, an emblematictrophy, a trip, etc. Usually, there are at least 3 different prizes, 1st, 2nd and 3rd.
Other elements may vary, and they have to appear after the promoters:
Topic, it can be a talent show, or a literary contest, a musical event, an art contest, etc. Besides, there can be a thematic: equality, poverty, freedom, animal protection, opportunities for youngsters, decoration for a spot…
Characteristics of works, for instance, in an art contest, you have to include the materials and tools to use, the size of the projects, if you have to present additional information, such as pictures, any document, or how to present the works.
Categories, in an art contest, for instance, there can be a category for paintings, sculptures, video, graffiti, murals, interventions or whichever.
Participants, is it an open contest for anyone, or maybe it’s only for youngsters 13-16 years old? Do they have to be from the city or can someone from another country take part? It has to be clear.
The flyer can have different sizes and formats, with content in all the sides and an appealing cover page:
The easiest is ¼ of a page written on both sides.
You can use half a page bent in the middle or bend both extremes to the center, as shown in the pictures, that’s a diptych brochure.
You can use a page to make a triptych brochure, the page bent twice, as an accordion or both edges of the paper bent to the centre.
