Are you a smart shopper?

¿Eres un comprador inteligente?

Or do you buy things because of their advertisements?

¿O compras por la publicidad?

Your answers to these questions will help you with the final task.

1. Your choice

In this activity you will have to make some choices about what to buy and where to get it.

First, imagine you have a limited budget, so you can buy only seven of these twelve items. Have a look at them and choose. Remember to explain why you have chosen them.

Then, decide where you are going to buy them: a local shop, a shopping centre, a store downtown or online. Explain the reasons for your choices.

Finally, share your decisions with the rest of the class and think about what kind of items we buy in what type of shops. Are there any consequences for the local shops and the environment?

2. Make innovative decisions

Adapting and combining your knowledge about this topic in order to face new situations and tasks can be a new challenge or a change in your way of doing things.

When you feel doubtful about how to make new decisions, remember, and adopt, this statement by Grace Murray Hopper, the famous scientist and strategist: The most dangerous sentence in language is "we have always done it this way".

Motus dice ... Making decisions is not always easy

Learning to face tasks or decisions can be difficult sometimes. Relax! You can do it.

For example, where would you buy some of the things you find here? Would you take into account where to find the cheapest price? Or the place where you could get a refund in case you wanted to? Where would you get a more personal and warmer manner?

Sometimes, making a good or bad decision about where to buy a valuable item as well as considering these questions is as important as the object itself.
