COMPRENSIÓN LECTORA
Thanksgiving is an American holiday celebrated on the fourth Thursday in November. On Thanksgiving, Americans remember the people from the Mayflower, a ship that travelled from England to America in 1620. There were 102 men, women and children on the Mayflower. These people were unhappy in England and wanted to travel to a new country. They travelled on the ship for six weeks. It was a very difficult trip. They arrived in America on 11 December 1620.
The people from the Mayflower didn’t know how to grow food or to hunt for wild animals. The Indians, or Native Americans, helped them. One year later, the people wanted to thank the Indians. They made a lot of food and had a meal with the Indians. This was the first Thanksgiving dinner. Today, on Thanksgiving Day, people eat a big turkey dinner with their families. They thank God for the good things in their lives.
