Paco is now in Los Angeles, California, the state he has chosen for his last American adventure. Located on the west coast of the United States, it is the most populated state of the country. The four biggest and most important cities of California are Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego and San Jose, being the first one Paco's current holiday destination.
Los Angeles is the biggest city in California, located on the southern coast and often referred to by its initials: L.A. What is now California first belonged to Spain, then it became part of Mexico and, finally, in 1848, part of the United States.
After having spent a few days in the freezing weather of Nunavut, Paco finds California really hot. Once he gets used to it again, he will enjoy the nice warm temperatures and the wonderful beaches of California. Last night Sonia reminded him not to miss one of these beaches, and she also asked him to send her a postcard.
L.A. is a very important business, entertainment, fashion and culture centre, partly due to the fact that it is the home base of Hollywood. This is the reason why L.A. is also known as the 'Entertainment Capital of the World'. It is, without any doubt, the world's leader in cinema, television and music. Whereas Hollywood is considered to be the home of film studios, Beverly Hills is the home of film stars. Paco wants to visit Hollywood, of course, but also the Chinese Theatre, the Kodak Theatre, some film and television studios, Beverly Hills or Disneyland.
While Paco is having breakfast at the hotel, he reads the following advertisement about L.A.:
Don't visit L.A. without our help! We organize trips to see this wonderful city and its surrounding areas. Visit Hollywood and its popular Walk of Fame. Find seats for interesting venues such as the taping of a gameshow. Don't miss the original Disneyland in Anaheim. You won't regret it! Come to Beverly Hills. We'll try to see some celebrities there. And sunbathe in Malibu wonderful beaches. Come to 'L.A. Travels' and book your trip with us!
