  • The possessive adjective goes before the noun or before the noun and adjective:

My brother is Spanish.

His new car is German.

  • his = of a man

His name is Bond, James Bond.

  • her = of a woman

Her name is Isabella Rossellini.

  • its = of a thing

Its name is London School of English

  • their = of men, women, or things

Their names are James and Isabella.

In number 4 above, why is it its flowers if flowers is plural? Why is it not their flowers? Because its refers to the garden, "the flowers of the garden".

In number 5 above, why is it its name if it is they who have a nice dog? Why is not their name? Because its refers to the dog, "the name of the dog".
