3. You mustn´t use your mobile phones / No debéis usar vuestros teléfonos móviles (Must)

Vamos a aprender otro verbo modal: MUST . Mira la carta de nuevo:

 
 

Dear students,

 

I am sending you this letter to remind you of some important rules you must follow inside the High School. Some of you seem to have forgotten all of them. I have decided to send you this letter and if your behaviour doesn´t change, I will take some other measures. You must all follow these rules:

 
  • You mustn´t smoke (This rule includes the toilets!)
 
  • You mustn´t use your mobile phones in the classrooms.
 
  • I know that some of you can play the guitar very well, but you mustn´t play it in the corridor!!!
 

I am sure that all you can walk quietly along the corridors.....you mustn´t run and you mustn´t shout while you walk.

 

I hope that you all understand this letter and from now on comply with the rules listed above.

¿Puedes imaginarte lo que significa MUST? Must significa “deber” en el sentido de “tener la obligación de”. Fíjate en la frase “I must go to work tomorrow”. (Tengo que ir a trabajar mañana). Sin embargo cuando lo utilizamos en negativo significa “no deber” en el sentido de “estar prohibido” o “tener la obligación de no hacer algo”. Fíjate en la carta y verás varias frases con este significado: You mustn´t smoke (Está prohibido fumar).

Vamos a comprobar si lo has entendido, aquí tienes un ejercicios de los que te gustan tanto, ok?
