Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS –
• Bachelor’s Degree in the related content area
• Eligible to hold Vermont Certification in English (02-05)
• Highly qualified in high school English

Duties (include but are not limited to):
• Demonstrate knowledge of World, American, British literature through instructional practices
• Familiarity with Common Core State Standards (CCSS)
• Guide the learning process toward student achievement of CCSS
• Develop and deliver cohesive lessons
• Use corrective, informative, summative assessment information to provide students with feedback
• Familiarity with standards based or proficiency based grading
• Create a positive, interactive classroom learning environment
• Maintain productive lines of communication with students, parents, and colleagues concerning progress of students
• Direct and supervise paraprofessionals, volunteers, and student teachers in the classroom
• Utilize creative teaching approaches developed specifically for at-risk or special needs students
• Collaborate with colleagues in designing proficiency based assessments
• Use data to direct instruction and remediation description
• Implement administrative directives in a professional manner regarding programs and policies
• Adhere to all school and district policies and regulations
